Back To The Scenic And Serene Beaver’s Bend State Park

Amazing sunset.
Amazing sunset.

Okay so my family and I went to Beaver’s Bend State Park in Broken Bow, Oklahoma again for a weekend adventure last month. This is the second time we went there, and I think it is going to be a tradition now.  We love the place.  It’s scenic, calming, relaxing, and beautiful.  It feels like you are in a different place, away from the busy life in the city.

We drove there Saturday after noon and we arrived at the Hochatown Lodge at around 3:00 P.M.  It was the very first time we booked an accommodation at Hochatown Lodge and  we were somewhat satisfied in our stay.

The room rate was reasonable and the room was just the right size.

  • We had two double queen beds non-smoking room.
  • Secured door locks.
  • Refrigerator, microwave, oven, hair dryer, coffee maker, television, and complete toiletries.
  • The towels smelled really good.  🙂

I am giving the Hochatown Lodge a rating of 3.5 because:

  1. The quilts need upgrade.
  2. They should serve bacon and eggs for breakfast, too.  🙂

Overall, it’s an okay place to stay if you are looking for an affordable accommodation around Beaver’s Bend State Park.

After we checked in and stuff, we drove to Beaver’s Bend and looked around for a place to go the next day.  We found the beach where we hung out by lake last year.  We spent a while there relaxing until sunset.

Our Trip To Beaver’s Bend State Park In Oklahoma

My family and I went to Beaver’s Bend State Park in Oklahoma last weekend.  The trip was in celebration of our 6th wedding anniversary. We were supposed to go to the Fort Worth Zoo the other weekend but we cancelled the trip because of the bad weather.

The weather last Sunday was perfect for a drive to Oklahoma.  Broken Bow, Oklahoma is a three-hour drive from our place.  Driving that far is a good practice for me too.  Anyway, we checked in at Microtel Inn in Broken Bow.  After checking in and got our things in the hotel room, we drove to Beaver’s Bend State Park and stroll around to look for a spot to spend time at the next day.

We found the Coyote Drive camp site located in the second entrance of Beaver’s Bend Park – Lakeview Park Steven’s Gap.  It’s a good place to spend the day in this area at the lake with your kids because there’s a playground there.

After strolling around, we head back to the hotel-cleaned up and had dinner at the Sunrise Buffet Chinese restaurant.  We had rice, noodles, shrimp, broccoli beef…all we can eat, baby!  🙂  We were stuffed and had a good night sleep.

Had the playground all to ourselves. :)

Day Two, July 5: Broken Bow, Oklahoma (Part 2)

Best Western sign

As we were approaching the city of Broken Bow in Oklahoma, my husband and I talked about having an early dinner because we were very hungry.  And we thought of the same thing, buffet. 🙂  We saw McDonald and Pizza Hut from a far but, surprisingly, there was a Chinese Buffet Restaurant.  So we stopped there and eat dinner before checking in the hotel.

It was just a few minutes past the check-in time and hurriedly I gave my husband the confirmation number of our room reservation then he went to the hotel’s front desk.  I was surprised when he got out of the door so quickly.  I asked why.  He said the staff told him “Maybe next time.”  WRONG HOTEL!  What a blooper.  Hahaha!  We were trying to check in at Best Western Hotel but our room accommodation is at Microtel Inn, which is just right next to it but a few yards farther.  Microtel Inn’s sign is huge and the first thing you will see by eye level.

It was a very hot day.  Our stay was only for a day so we relaxed a little while and prepared for the afternoon drive to the lake.  So Broken Bow Lake has a resort called Beavers Bend State Resort Park.  It’s a huge state park.  Great for outdoor activities like camping, hiking, bird watching, nature trekking, swimming, and boating.
