Turkey Day

Well, today is my second Thanksgiving Day in the USA. Last year, we were at my husband’s parents’ house. This time, we are at my brother-in-law’s house. He and his wife invited us for Thanksgiving Dinner. Her family is coming so my husband and I will be meeting them soon. With the help of my mother-in-law, the couple is busy preparing the food including the turkey and ham.

Looking at my father-in-law pulling of the meat from the turkey, I feel hungry. I am eating the white meat this time.

Learn From The Best, Join Us In Branson This October

As the holiday approaches, we are now thinking of foods to prepare on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Eve. Some people rely on cookbooks and others want to learn cooking on the spot. What exciting is that, cooking is not only a way to a loved one’s heart, also a way to a great entertainment. I said entertainment because cooking can be a form of leisure or fun. Besides, learning how to cook from a very reputable cooking school is an achievement.

Speaking of cooking, aspiring chefs and even interested individuals are invited to join The Cooking School weekend in Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel on October 16th and 17th. The schedule of activities includes:

  • Wine tasting
  • Four course dinner preparation
  • Saturday and Sunday cooking demo with Chef Nathan Read, the hotel’s very own chef
Attending this event in this luxurious hotel in Branson, Missouri is not a time wasted. Besides the activities mentioned above, a deluxe two nights accommodation is included for just $398 (plus tax). There are many places to explore in Branson, and staying in Hilton Branson Convention Hotel is the best thing to do because the hotel is located very close to shops, golf course, restaurants, riverwalk, and other attractions.

Missouri has always been a place of entertainment. My cousin just went for a vacation there and she liked going to St. Louis and Branson. I want to go visit the great Arc in St. Louis and Mount Pleasant Winery in Branson. They are both interesting to me.

Some Tips When Eating Out

I like eating out. It makes me feel good going to fine dining. Trying different kinds of food in either simple or fancy restaurants is amazing experience to me especially if it’s buffet style ^-^. How about you? What’s your preference? ‘Sharing with you some tips when eating out.

1. Use portion control.
2. Avoid fried foods – substitute a side salad. (go easy on the dressing)
3. Limit bread, chips, and appetizers while you wait for your meal.
4. Go easy on the cheese.
5. Choose light salad dressings, served on the side.
6. Enjoy a salad and an appetizer in place of an entree.
7. Take home half of your meal for tomorrow’s lunch.
8. Order fresh fruit or fruit sorbet for dessert.
9. Enjoy as many simply prepared vegetables as you like.
10. Go for foods that are baked, broiled, roasted or grilled.

I am not a fan of vegetable salad but I am now starting to like them. Yet it still depends on my mood. Vegetable salads are good for us though.
