This is the first Spring Break ever and we had a great time.  Our favorite getaway place, Beaver’s Bend State Park in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, was as relaxing and peaceful as ever. We have been here a few times in the previous years and I can say this is a great place if you need to be just with yourself or with your family enjoying the serenity of nature away from the busy life in the big city.

Here are few things you can do at Beaver’s Bend State Park:

Hiking – There are hiking trails all over the state park.

We enjoy hiking.  Besides being a good exercise, hiking gives you feeling of achievement.  Once you reach the top of the hill, it feels amazing. Climbing down the hill feels more tiresome because you are using different muscles. Overall, it’s an awesome hobby.

Camping – Beaver’s Bend State Park in Oklahoma is also a great place to camp.  There are family-friend and pet-friendly camping grounds in the park.

We drove around and saw campers in their tents and camper vans. Since it is Spring Break, we saw group of young campers in the area.  My family haven’t tried camping yet because of personal reasons. Hopefully we will be able to camp here in the future.

Camping needs a lot of preparation.  You have to have a very well-made and durable camping tent. Camping is fun, too.  Remember, there is no cellphone signal in the woods so you can only use data on your mobile phones.  On the other hand, there are areas in the park where cell signals are very limited.

Fishing – Yes, you can do fishing in the river at Beaver’s Bend State Park.  Bring your fishing gear and unexpired fishing license or fishing permit and you are good to catch rainbow trouts and other trouts.

We would love to go fishing in the future.  We just have to work on my darling daughter’s patience.  🙂 For now, we just enjoy soaking our feet in the ice cold water in the river.

DO NOT FORGET:  If you hear the siren, get off the water immediately because the water level in the river will rise quickly when they release water from the dam.  🙂
