Air medics helicopter taking off.
We had a great night at the National Night Out last two Tuesdays ago. It was an event that we’re looking forward to every October of the year. This National Night Out or NNO is held in appreciation to our community’s first responders (see: responder).

There are so many activities going in a National Night Out: pony rides, bounce houses, giveaways from sponsors, free food, free music, K9 show, barrel ride…to name a few. This also a good time to meet and know your neighbors. This way, we can help each other in fighting crimes in our communities. This is held usually in big areas like city parks.
After all the fun activities, NNO always ended with a fabulous fireworks show. We loved it.
Well oh well. Summer has officially started. Swimming pools, lakes, and water parks are getting busy again. Inflatable pools and swimming gears are highly in-demand. And splashing in the water is very inviting. Summer fun is on!
Speaking of splashing in the water, my friends had a great time at the lake today. It’s my friend’s birthday today and she liked it to be held in the park at the lake like last year’s. Though everyone was sweating to the triple digit temperature this afternoon, the breeze helped cooling us down a bit.
We were at Collin Park Marina. It is located in Wylie, Texas and one of the most visited parks in Wylie. There’s a boat ramp, restaurants, and gift shops in the Marina. You can reserve pavilion for special events. Camping, boating, and other outdoor activities can be done at the park and lake. Entrance is $2.00 per person and $2.00 per vehicle. The parking area close to the dock/boat ramp is strictly for boat owners only. As what I have noticed, there are picnic cottages by the lake but looks like they are not well-maintained. If you are planning for a picnic by the lake in the park, having it under the tree is better. Alcoholic drinks are not allowed in the park. But you can drink only inside the restaurant.
We had a great time. Birthday + Food + Sun + Lake + Friends = Fun!

Another activity to enjoy in the Spring and Summer is boating. Here, my friend KL’s husband took the kids to a boat ride after the egg hunt. Man, they had so much fun!
We are happy that the water level is getting high now. Though the Stage No. 3 Restriction for water conservation is still in effect in North Dallas, the residents are enjoying the lake waters. But we still need more rain to sustain the lakes to return the water to it’s normal levels.
According to trivia, there is only one natural lake in Texas – Caddo Lake located 0n the border of Texas and Louisiana. Hundreds of Texas’ beautiful lakes are man-made, publicly accessible and privately owned. Swimming, boating, fishing, and jet-skiing are fun activities that residents and out-of-state visitors can do here.
My daughter and I had a wonderful time at the party by the lake in East Fork Park today. When she gets older, we will let her join the other kids in the boat.
My friend’s son is having a birthday party and we are invited. The party is holding at the East Fork Park in Wylie. East Fork is one of the parks in Wylie lakes area. Besides the birthday party, my friend is inviting the friends circle to a camp out by the lake. Like I said, camping is one of the interesting outdoor activities you can do in the Spring.
I never been to camping where you put up tents and make a bonfire…thinks like that. But I attended retreats a couple of times. Sharing stories, games, and eating are fun things at camping. My friend and her family prepared lots of delicious food. In addition to the events, there is also an early Egg Hunting for the kids. This is also a pre-Easter treat for our children.

Besides camping, East Fork Park in Wylie lakes is also a good place for boating and fishing. Getting there from Dallas is to take Hwy 78 East and turn left to Eubanks Ln (CR 389) and stay to the right and you will see the East Fork Park. From Rockwall take Hwy 205, turn left at the light to Hwy 78. Then turn right to CR 384. Turn left at the STOP sign and drive all the way thru CR 384 until you see East Fork Park on the right.
It’s really fun at the lake. The kids enjoyed playing and egg hunting too.
