Heard The Coffee News Lately?

We just enjoy cooking and watching movies on television while having a cup of coffee on weekends. Yes, this is one of our ways to relax. Nothing compares to a good cup of coffee! And speaking of it, I remembered hearing the news a couple of days ago that a Starbucks will be closing 600 of its stores here in the USA. Huh? I can’t believe it. I am one of the avid customers of this popular coffee shop and it seems odd to me.
Two of my personal favorites here are the café latte and green tea.

However, the news said Starbucks management has not mentioned yet which store locations will be closed. I just hope that Starbucks here in our area will not be one of them.

Here Comes the Typhoon Again

I get worried whenever typhoons hit the Philippines. Everything is wide affected…the basic commodities, communication, electricity, transportation, and even safety.
I received a message from my family back home in Leyte that there are plenty of damaged homes in our neighborhood. Floods are all over the place that hugely damaged the crops and rice fields. The people ran for cover to the Municipal Gym and nearest schools in town. There was a major black-out too. The bad thing was a branch from a tree in our backyard fell on the kitchen part of our house. I am so sad about it. But I am extremely thankful because everybody is safe.
The news said that the typhoon packed sustained winds of 88 miles per hour and gusts of up to 106 mph when it made landfall near the southern tip of Samar Island, southeast of Manila, late Friday.

Free Paper

June 7, 2008 – It’s Saturday. As usual, Steve and I drove out of town for a weekend visit to our house for sale in Nevada. We stopped by at Denny’s for breakfast. I saw a free reading material and I decided to get one since it’s about one and a half hour drive to the house. I don’t want to get bored and sleepy inside the Chevrolet Silverado truck. Besides, eating a heavy breakfast makes us sleepy.

Anyways, the free paper I got is called the Coffee News. I found out that this single-sheet reading material is the large publication worldwide. Distributions are done every week here in Forth Worth. It contains news articles, upcoming events (in the city), and ads that are printed in a 11×17 sheet of paper (front and back), and it has new editions weekly. In fact, it has horoscope and humor section too! It is really someting to read.

I looked up in the horoscope section and here’s the read:

Libra“You really put your heart and efforts into helping others now. A generous spirit is brougth forth in you, nurturing to your close relationships.” (for Steve)
Aquarius“This is a very good time to go to the theater or social gathering. You will want to see beautiful things and exchange pleasantries with others.” (for me)

Well, Steve’s horoscope is kind of right somehow. He has been busy with work this week and comes home late. Mine? Amazing! A Filipina friend invited me to a Pool Party in Plano and Steve’s going to drive me there in the afternoon.
