There are small towns in America, and then there’s Buford, Wyoming. It has a population of one — Don Sammons. In 1980, he bought the town and all six buildings within. At the same time, the population of Buford was seven, but those residents eventually left, leaving Don and his wife, who later died. Now it’s just him and he runs the town’s general store and uses the old school house as a garage. The town dates back to 1866 when it was a military outpost protecting workers building the railroad, and, in its prime, it had 2,000 residents. Sammons says that today he’s the king of the castle.

Well that’s kinda interesting to know. I wonder how much did he pay to own the town in the ’80s.
I heard in the news today that an earthquake hit Central Visayas Region in the Philippines, February 6, 2012. The highest magnitude recorded was 7. A tsunami alert No. 2 is lifted in the Visayas coasts.
Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum Jr. told the media that it is not the under water volcanoes that caused the earthquake. It is the subduction which means the the process of the oceanic lithosphere colliding with and descending beneath the continental lithosphere.
This is very scary especially to those who reside along the coasts. Although my family lives far from the sea, the ground shaking is frightening. I am praying for the safety of everyone. And to all the travelers in the region, please be alert and exercise extra caution.
What is your greatest travel fear? I know it is kind of freaky question. But everyone of us has his own fear by any means.
I have fear of traveling in the ocean. Though I love water, I still have this reservation to go on a cruise. Despite of this, I am wishing that one day my hubby and I will fulfill our plan to have 7-day cruise. I guess many of you have heard about the Italian cruise ship that sank recently (click here)? The Costa Concordia. Ain’t that horrible? A tragedy like that is traumatic! The panic outrage will freak you out.
In all situations, passengers and crews should be knowledgeable with the security and safety procedures on board. For information on sea travel safety tips, please go to http://www.consumerreports.org/health/healthy-living/health-safety/travel-health/sea-travel/index.htm.
